The Connie Passmore Scholarship was established by the St. Petersburg chapter of Business & Professional Women (BPW) to honor one of its long-time members. Mrs. Passmore, who was a Florida Progress [Progress Energy] employee, devoted many hours and much effort to advance the ideals and causes of BPW. She served as President of this chapter as well as holding several regional and state positions. Her special interest was the Equal Rights Amendment and she carried on a vigorous campaign in support of its passage.
BPW is an alliance of individuals dedicated to improving the professional, personal, economic and educational outlook for women. It is open to all women and men who are actively engaged in business or the professions and share the BPW goal of equity for all women in the workplace.
The Connie Passmore Scholarship makes awards to women, who are Florida residents aged 21 or more, who live, work or attend school in the Tampa Bay area and who are pursuing education at accredited educational institutions or training programs in Florida to improve their career prospects. Several awards of $250 or more are made each year. Selection is based on need, achievement and the student's goals.
